Alright.
I've started to be on the lookout for interesting, lesser known games. I also have the big name blockbusters, but everyone's already heard about those. What's your favorite unknown game you'd recommend to people?
To start us off, here's my current "Hey, check this out" list.
AI War: Fleet Command. $30 US for the game and expansion pack. Grand strategy on a galactic scale, this game takes the RTS genre and looks at it 90° sideways through a looking glass. From disconnecting the game from a fight over resources, you use the traditional metal/crystal/energy resources, but the AI gets units based on the "AI Progress" meter. From multiplayer being co-op only, indeed, designed as a co-op game. In fact, it started out because the programmer wanted a strategy game he could play with his friends that was co-op focused, not PvP focused. Perhaps the biggest thing it has going in it's favor is that I've now spent 200 hours played on it according to my Steam page. At only 200megs for both the base game and the first expansion, and a 3 hour time limit for full featured demo games, this one is worth your while to check out.
League of Legends Free, with micro-payment options. This takes the Warcraft III mod Defense of the ancients and turns it into a stand alone game. You get a single controllable champion yourself and fight in 3v3 or 5v5 games against other players. And since it's free, no reason not check it out if you enjoyed DotA at all.
