Higurashi no Naku Koro ni [FINISHED]
Can't say I liked it much, seeing as I'm a pansy through and through (up to and including animated violence/gore as this show allowed me to discover) Though I didn't like it, I probably wouldn't dismiss it entirely. The way the plot was set up kept it really intriguing and I'd probably recommend it to anyone who doesn't mind the excessive violence.Yay blood! I like its perversity, the fact that (apparently) the words "there is no escape" play backwards in the title song, and the plot of twistiness. Also, the old cop reminds me of Colombo. Everyone needs more maniacal laughter and girls with cleavers. Plus it washes the foul taint of Potatoemayonaise out of your brain. Yay!I LOVE Higurashi; it's quickly joined the ranks of my favorites. It's rare to find 'moe' anime mixed up with intriguing mystery and flat-out barbarity. The story-telling gimmick of 'resetting' everything after a few episodes is really cool, since you have to connect not only what happened in another world, but what 'would' happen in the similar universe. Higurashi is totally deceiving in its appearance; the horror/sci-fi connection feels unwelcome and surprisingly fitting at the same time. I'd definitely get this on DVD, once Geneon gets its act together. Bring on Kai!
